A day at the Gorge

The air was crisp and the wind was blowing as it usually is at the Gorge.  We took a little trip to see some waterfalls and take a few pictures.  Santa brought Evenia a new camera for Christmas so she wanted to try it out.  What she did not plan on was the cold and wind.  Truth be told she only got out of the car a few times.  The spray from the waterfalls was frozen on the trees creating some beautiful winter scenes.  Here are a few pictures from our trip.

Thanksgiving 2009

My sister and her husband finally are back in their house after it was flooded about a year ago.  We all thought that it would be great to celebrate Thanksgiving at their place instead of my Mom and Dad’s as usual.  We don’t really measure time in minutes but in moments.  Those moments that we share together with family, friends, loved ones.  Our memories are filled with these moments that woven together make up the tapestry of our lives.  Thank you God for family and the ability to spend time together.  Lea is asleep, that is why she is not at the table.

A Day at the Oregon Zoo

We went to visit the new exhibit at the Oregon zoo called Predators of the Serengeti the other day.  The exhibit was fantastic, it had Cheetahs, African Wild Dogs, and oh yes, the lions are back.  There are all sorts of other snakes, lizards and birds too.  It makes an excellent addition to the Africa section of the zoo.  We all had a blast, especially Lea who could not get enough of the Lions.  We are very lucky to have a great zoo near by that we can visit often.  Well worth the price of becoming a member.  I highly recommend a family membership.

September is a great month.

September has been a great month.  The weather has been perfect and we have been taking advantage of it.  The other day we went to a "fly in".  Kinda like a classic car show except with planes.  Lea enjoyed flying in her own little plane as you can see.  We also went on some kiddy rides last weekend and could not get Lea off the motorcycle ride.  At this rate she will want her own Harley by the time she is 16.  Every day is a new adventure.

Dahlia Festival

Festival in Canby and Lea had her face painted.  The site of seeing my little butterfly frolicking among the flowers was fantastic.  Afterward, we went to another little farm nearby where they grew Basil and had some local artist displaying their work.  Leas favorite part was the little train that went around the farm.  She was not very interested in looking at art.  The pesto bruschetta was very tasty.  We all had a great time.

Here are a few photos of Lea.  She is growing fast and sometimes it's hard to keep up with her.  we are all doing fine.  Summers in Oregon are not to be wasted so we are doing our best to take advantage of the nice weather and long days.

Some thoughts on family.

This past Christmas more than any other time I realized that family is truly the most important thing in life.  One could argue that there are many things that are important, yet when all is said and done, what is left is the memories we have shared.  Here are a couple shots of our family.
